Pray for those affected by Colorado fires
Updated -- More than 14,000 acres have burned, but rain over the weekend helped firefighters gain an upper hand of the fires. As of Tuesday morning, officials had the fire 75 percent contained. Continue to pray for officials as they finish fighting it, for the investigation, and for the survivors as they move forward.
One Colorado man describes his unease about returning home after evacuating from his neighborhood as wildfires raged out of control just north of Colorado Springs, Colo.
“We are happy to be home but realize it is only a densely fuel-packed forest and wind going the right way that separates us from the fire,” says Dan Dyer, a video services manager for Young Life in Colorado Springs.
Strong winds, high temperatures, and dry conditions have made containing the 15,700-acre Black Forest fire – one of three major blazes burning in the state – a challenge. Two people have died and hundreds of homes have been destroyed, The Denver Post reported. Nearly 40,000 people have been forced to leave their homes.
“Both my wife and I were in some amount of denial about what could happen until we drove away and saw the massive black monster in the rearview mirror,” Dan says. “At that point I cried for the first time thinking I might not [again] see my beloved forest, house, and all the junk inside it.”

Prayer points for Colorado:
Pray for the weather: Dear God, please calm the winds and send rain on the hot, dry region, so that firefighters are able to contain the fire.
Pray for people who are affected by the fires: Dear Lord, give peace to those who have lost their homes, been evacuated or stand in harm’s way. Give parents the strength they need to provide a safe haven for their children.
Pray for firefighters: Father, give patience, strength, and stamina to all who are fighting the fire. Sustain them during the long hours and fatigue, and give them wisdom in making decisions
